Early Inscriptions of Andhradesha

The online corpus of the Early Inscriptions of Āndhradeśa is a digital publication realized by the École française d’Extrême-Orient (Paris, France), in collaboration with the HiSoMA Research Centre (Lyon, France) and hosted by TGIR Huma-Num (France).

The main aim of the corpus is to present the complete primary textual data along with metadata, including precise information on the whereabouts of the inscribed artefacts, annotated English translations, for a major Indian epigraphic corpus that has so far only been studied with pre-digital methods.

The research was planned and conducted by Arlo Griffiths and Vincent Tournier (SOAS, London), who were responsible for the publication as general editors.

Important contributions were made by Stefan Baums (Ludwig‐Maximilians‐Universität München) and Ingo Strauch (Université de Lausanne), while Emmanuel Francis (CNRS / research center CEIAS, Paris) has been involved in connection with the inscriptions of the Śālaṅkāyana and Pallava dynasties.

The data of the corpus have been encoded in XML according to the EpiDoc schema compliant with the Text Encoding Initiative and processed through ODD in an eXist database.
